DIGITAL TOOLS IN LEARNING

WHY DIGITAL TOOLS IS NEEDED IN LEARNING?

In my personal view, digital tools are needed because it can help students, teachers, and parent to get involved in the process of teaching and learning.

In this post, I wanted to share one of my favourite digital tool which I feel I wanted to implement in future learning session.

My favourite digital tool is Edmodo.

Basically, Edmodo is a learning management system works like Facebook. It allows the user especially teachers to share content, distribute assignment and quizzes, manage communication with students, teachers and parents.

In my opinion, Edmodo is a suitable platform as it user-friendly. Through Edmodo, it can create a good bond between students and parents, parents and teachers as one can communicate privately or in public whether to give encouragement or suggestion in enhancement of learning experience.

What is the TPACK Framework?

TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. It is a theory that was developed to explain the set of knowledge that teachers need to teach their students a subject, teach effectively, and use technology.



ADDIE MODEL

Addie model is an instructional model that help instructional designers in planning to create an instruction. It helps to create all kind of instruction. In education, Addie model helps to create instruction for student better learning experience.


SAMR MODEL

SAMR Model is used by an educator to guide themselves in creating lessons plan that infuses technology in the lesson. It is also important for the educator to look for TPACK framework in order to create a lesson plan.

BEHAVIORISM


Focus:  Learning is produced by changes in one’s behavior with environmental influence
Two main elements are the stimulus and response that produce behavior.

These changes could remain for a longer time with appropriate motivation

Motivation exists in many ways such as:

  • Rewards
  • Incentives
  • Reinforcements

COGNITIVIST THEORY

Focus: One build understanding through mental (thinking) process and interaction with the environment.



CONSTRUCTIVIST THEORY

Focus:  Learning is an active process in which learners construct new ideas or concepts based upon their current or past knowledge.

Schema: idea and knowledge in a one's mind

Adaptation: a process of making adjustments

Assimilation: a process when a person receives knowledge and puts in their mind

Accommodation: A person changes his schema (mind) to suit with the new knowledge

What is classroom technology tools?

In a simple definition, a tool is an instrument we use to accomplish a work where classroom technology tools are the tool that implemented technology use to help in the learning session.

Below are the few tools that we can use in the classroom. By using these kinds of tool, it helps teacher and students to experience rich learning.

What is STEM education?

An interdisciplinary approach to learning that removes traditional barriers.

Adaptive learning is a technology-based or online educational system that analyzes a student’s performance in real time and modifies teaching methods based on that data. Learning material changes according to one performance.


BENEFIT OF ADAPTIVE LEARNING;


1. TEACHER
It help the teacher to analyze their student performance and figuring out their abilities in learning. Thus, teacher can come out with a solution on how to help the student.

2. STUDENT
It gives student a chance to working on with the lesson at their own pace. Can decrease frustration as they do not compete with others.

3. ONLINE LEARNING


It includes learning with the assistance of the Internet and a personal computer.

4. MOBILE LEARNING


Mobile learning, also known as m-learning, is an educational system where with the help of mobile devices, continuous access to the learning process can be achieved.

Advantages of mobile learning are;
  • accessible can reach many people
  • self-paced
  • informal
  • convenient
